This isn't the first MID to come out of China with an Intel Atom CPU nor is it one that boasts the highest specs, but the Soyea Z5 holds its own with a 1.2GHz Z515 processor, 1GB of RAM, 5" WVGA touchscreen, Windows XP/Linux, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 802.11b/g WiFi, and integrated 3G connectivity courtesy of China Telecom. The 12.3-ounce slate is unfortunately equipped with only an 8GB SSD, but the microSD slot, mini USB and VGA ports, stereo speakers, optical mouse, mouse buttons, and webcam help to take some of the sting away.
The Soyea Z5 measures 6.1" x 3.7" x 0.89" (similar to the popular Viliv S5) and has been priced by Amazon China at 5999 yuan, which is about $878. Rather astronomical compared to other devices on the market (not to mention uncharacteristic for Chinese gadgetry), I know, but maybe the high price corresponds to an incredibly well built, high quality product.
If the Z5 wasn't already out of stock, perhaps we'd be able to find out. In the meantime, there's no harm in a little naive optimism, right?

Wow. Do china think people nowadays got a lot of money to spend on gadgets? LOL. A device that functions as a Computer, Or a Mobile PC and the price is more than $500, People start comparing. “Do I really need this or am I better off with a $300 netbook?” “is getting this for $800 better than getting Archos 9 for $500?”. People will get the most bang for their buck. So I guess this one is not going far. Unless they bring it down to $300 and blend in the trend.
Plus with that price, I’m better off with the other overpriced slate. The evigroup pad which is 10.6″ screen slate with higher storage for the same price range.
IF you buy it for $800, you are fool.
