Since Twitter has apparently replaced the use of actual PR/marketing over at Dell when it comes to anything related to the Streak, let's take a look at the latest tweets coming from @LionelatDell (chief blogger for Dell Inc). Side note: I'm @pocketables on Twitter.
In the last two hours, Lionel tweeted about the Streak five times. Here are the new bits of information:
- Carbon will be the only color available for preorder next week.
- Along with the Streak, you will also be able order accessories through the pre-sale event.
- Part of the pre-sale includes a free upgrade to 2nd Business Day shipping, but if you want the Streak as soon as possible, you can pay for Next Day shipping.
I assume we need to wait for the email containing the "unique order code" to find out how much the Streak will cost and whether an AT&T subsidy will be involved. It would be nice to know which accessories will be available (here are the ones offered in the UK), how much they'll cost, and when the other colors will be released, but I guess that would go against the rules of the Waiting in the Dark game that Dell is making us play.
Thanks, Sean!

Well, it’s on my to-do list to get into an ATT store this weekend and handle a captivate.
With the supposed data plan re-hash on Sunday, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the pre-sale start tomorrow with the Streak going on sale with the release of the new data plans on Sunday, like every other At&t phone (except for the iphone).
DELL GIVE US a RELEASE DATE, THEN FIRE YOUR PR TEAM.
Amen! A room full of monkeys could’ve done better.
I wonder if Dell will allow customers to purchase accessories without purchasing a Streak as well. I am in desperate need of the car docking station. The Streak is extremely dangerous to do anything when in the car with it!
I just really want an ipad-like data plan but with pay as you go minutes on top of it. I only use 20min a month – it’s a waste to pay for 450. But when I use pay as you go data , I only get 100mb for $20 – now that is also a joke.
Dont think about it Dell or tweet little teases just release the damn info already, whats the big fricking secret? AT&T subsidy pricing on contract is all I want to know at this point…
Except Lionel at Dell said it would be next week. It might be Sunday though.
I’ve been going back and forth this week about getting a captivate or waiting for the Streak. Not officially releasing the specifications yet makes me a little hesitant to order it on the pre-sale. Any clue what type of return policy the pre-sale would come with? I think the typical at&t contracts have a 30 day buyer-remorse period.
so, DELL expect us to go and buy the phone, no choice of colors, the deay of the release, w/o knowing how much are we going to spend… what do they think we are?? apple fanboys???
What new data plans? at&t just changed their data plans at the beginning of last month; are you saying they’re changing them again?
This is getting ridiculous. I can’t believe Dell is dragging this out. Instead of causing anticipation and excitement, it’s breeding frustration and resentment.
I might wait until version 2.0 at this point unless it’s true that you’ll be able to upgrade to version 2.2 immediately after buying it. That will be enough to push me into buying it and changing carriers. I’m currently on Verizon and use an Env 2.
Just to clarify. I meant to wait for version 2.0 of the Streak unless I could update immediately to Froyo 2.2.
sunday is next week to many people (weeks are sun-sat).

All the delay, and lack of plans/final hardware/networks, makes me want to wait. I have an HD2, and need T-Mobile USA, to get the speed of 3G. I cannot get out of my contract without a penalty, so I want unlocked.
If it does not support 3G unlocked on TMOUS, Dell is just retarded.
Still amused by the fact that the pre-sale site says “exclusive offer”… Who is excluded? Anyone can sign up. That’s like goin to a public restroom and having an “exclusive” sign above the tp roll
This is the weirdest release ever. It does make me nervous as a first time buyer.
The PR/Marketing team for this device has done a horrible job. I can’t believe this from a Dell product… how long have they been in business?
To be honest, I think they’re doing a great job, creating almost a mini hype causing people to follow them closely, it’s evilly brilliant. Lets face it, when most people think dell, they think computers, maybe even PDAs (for those of us who remember when those were big) but not phones. Their marketing schema seems to be designed to generate an interest as they aren’t like apple who everyone seems to follow them for every “new” invention of theirs. Granted they could have put out a little more info, maybe even an ad on the telly, but since I first heard about the streak I’ve been waiting for it, not upgrading my phone and saving money. I’m on the preorder list and actually subscribed 3 of my emails and both my personal and work phone so I KNOW when it comes out. Obsessed? maybe, but I’ll be there on the preorder for sure.
I too signed up … and have received an email from Dell every day since … and I did not check the box, “Want additional deals?”
Today’s email was titled, “Buy today and we’ll ship it tomorrow!” … so I figured, ‘finally the Streak’ … but when I opened it, it was not
the Streak.
… one more feeling of being disappointed
