It may not be as good as an actual blacklist app, but if you've got a few people in your life whose calls you never want to take, then you should at least be aware of the native "Send to voicemail" option on your HTC EVO 4G.
You can turn it on for anyone in your contacts list so that you never have to manually reject the call or listen to the phone ring until it goes to voicemail. The caller hears one ring and then gets sent straight to voicemail, while you hear nothing (regardless of your ringer settings at the time). You'll see a missed call in your notifications area and you might end up getting an actual voicemail, but both are easy enough to ignore and delete.
Here's how to send a call straight to voicemail:
- View the contact details of the person you don't want to talk to.
- Tap the "Send to voicemail" option in the "Information" section to turn it on.
- Tap it again to turn it off.
That's it.
Blacklist and call block apps have more features, sure, but this is already built into the EVO and really easily accessible. It's much more discreet and less likely to cause a fight too, as I'm sure your significant other wouldn't be too happy about seeing his/her name and number in a dedicated blacklist app.

This would be great for phone numbers that aren’t saved on my phonebook.
This really works. I use it for a lot of my chics that call way to much.
I LOVE this feature. I’ve used it ever since i personalized my contacts. Its VERY useful when you are not interested in chatting about nothing and random telemarketers.
@Emil P
I have an ongoing contact list of random numbers that show up. I named them “Do not bother,” have assigned a silent ring, and they go directly to voxmail.
*What i would like to do is find a way to clear the voxmail or even the notification without having to go directly to the screen and listen. I’m lazy that way.
Thanks for the idea, I’ll try this out.
My friends and I call this applying the hater button. LOL!
Great for telemarketers!
cool. Thanks Jenn. Now, I can block the wife’s number when she ticks me off.
Settings>call>clear voicemail notification
I love this phone more and more. Thank you for the info!
I have a question. I selected the goto voicemail option and then deleted the contract. AFter things cooled down I added the contract back into my phone, and it said the send to voicemail option was off, but it still sends the contract automatically to voicemail. how can I fix this so That it will no longer goto voicemail?
