The Dell Streak 7 was released to the masses just last month and it's already got its first official OTA update from T-Mobile.
The update takes the Tegra 2-powered tablet from Android 2.2 (build 14291) to Android 2.2.2 (build 15420) and includes a new power management profile, Qik enhancements (hardware acceleration and improved video quality), improved camera performance and MMS, updates to some preloaded apps, and "general performance improvements." It also boosts Quadrant benchmark scores to 1900+!
An automatic notification should appear to alert you to the update, but if not, you can check for it manually by going to Settings > About > System updates.
If you've flashed ClockworkMod Recovery, the package won't install and you'll likely get stuck in somewhere undesirable like the Dell logo or that screen with the Android mascot being dwarfed by the triangle with the exclamation point in it. To get around this, you'll need to flash back to stock.
[Update: All the files you need can be found in this post by bogdi1988. Once everything is on your Streak's internal memory (not the external SD card), follow these instructions by bogdi1988. Yes, bogdi1988 is a Streak savior!]
Oh, and is typical with OTAs, this update will cause you to lose root. There are currently no known methods to get it back again, but I think a solution should be coming out soon.

Well, love it while you can…once the death star takes over,
you can bet the OTA’s will never happen
Just ask anyone who waited how long for at&t to clear the 2.2 update
for the 5″ streak?
what?
no root for 2.2.2?
and why do i NEVER get an update notification? <.<
add:
i actually found a german description for how to root 2.2.2 / 345 . .
This is for the Streak 7, not the Streak 5.
Both are dell streaks running Android. Would this update not work on the Streak 5 as well?
No, it doesn’t work like that. The 5 and 7 can’t run the same ROMs. Each is unique. That’s why all the custom ROMs out there for other Android phones are only for those respective phones. Someone may port it but it will require at least a little work to make it a perfect fit.
I am getting an error: Can’t open cache recovery log.
Please help.
Are you using ClockworkMod or stock recovery?
Does anyone know if the 5 inch Streak is getting this update? Has Dell announced anything?
That is probably all up to ATT! The build clearly exists, as the latest StreakDroid is based on some of it, but ATT is the one controlling the gates.
Ah, my mistake, i did not see the 7 up there <.<;,
I did it and visually it looks the same
Yes, please help.
Yes, what? ClockworkMod or stock?
ClockworkMod 3.0.2.0
The stock is Dell version of 2.2
Oh, okay. I was asking which recovery you were using: ClockworkMod recovery or Dell’s stock recovery. I think you’re confusing the word “stock” with “ROM.” No worries.
In any case, follow the instructions from bogdi1988 (linked in the update in this post) and you should be all set: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12185475&postcount=76
In brief, download the stock files (also linked in this post), move them to your Streak’s internal storage, connect to PC with USB debugging enabled, enter the commands in adb shell, reboot, and flash stock files in fastboot. This will overwrite ClockworkMod with the stock recovery and let Dell’s update install correctly.
If you have any trouble, check the XDA thread or start a new thread in the StreakSmart forum. Good luck!

OK, I’m knew to the dell streak (hasn’t even come in the mail yet) and there are several jargon words I just don’t know the first thing about such words as the following:
1.Root, rooting,or a rooted phone.
2.OTA
3. flashing clock work mod
4. mod
5. Heck ….flashing for that matter.
Please feel at liberty to address me as if I am a four year old as I strongly suspect I’ll have a hard time following what the heck all this means. I hope by the time the phone finally gets to my door I’ll be up to date on all the ins and outs and able to get my money’s orth out of this thing.
Thanks
This stinks. I have one of the X rev Streak 7s and the firmware won’t work on mine and it isn’t even rooted. I’m not quite sure what I can do now to update. The update starts but when it checks the hardware name, it doesn’t match “streak7″ so I assume looking glass is still in there somewhere. (Not to mention the system-> update tries to go to zingzing.com)
Have you tried downloading the package manually? http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GLUNB1A132233
I have dell streak 5 and it started downloading I got scared and stop it at 5% I wonder will it work even though it for streak 7???
Mine isn’t the same ID so that’s not the correct update. I have that file (as noted above) but it fails to run.
My ID is GLUNB1A10133. (Apparently not compatible)
how to firmware loss ?
please help me
