It didn't take long for AT&T-locked Dell Streak customers to realize that the recent OTA software update labeled as Android 2.2.2 was definitely not 2.2.2. All they had to do was look at the device after installing the update to see that it was still just 2.2 with none of the new apps and features mentioned on the landing page.
It took Dell/AT&T considerably longer to realize this, but now that they have, the landing page has been corrected. As shown above, my suggested edits didn't make it into the revision, which now identifies the update as "2.2 with Dell Stage 1.5.1" (as opposed to "2.2.2 with Dell Stage 1.6"). Evidently, the maintenance release contains nothing more than an international roaming bug fix. Disappointing, to say the least, but at least it's not mislabeled and misleading people anymore.
When AT&T customers will catch up to their unlocked counterparts is unknown, but let me just say that StreakDroid 1.9.0 is based on 2.2.2, it includes the newest version of Stage, and it's been running fabulously on my Streak since it was released in March.

Too bad we still dont have cyanogenmod available. Talk about fragmentation. A very capable android handset and no gingerbread. Sad. I am thankful to DJ Steve dont get me wrong, but you would think that we’d have Gingerbread available like everyone else brave enough to root and modify their device.
Hmmm….it appears to me that they fixed the bluetooth which failed to work on my device despite several reinstalls of 2.2 Now it is better than ever.8
