It's time to stop mourning the short-lived bliss of enjoying the unofficial Netflix app on your HTC EVO 4G. The official app from Netflix, Inc. has just hit the Market for five phones and five phones alone: the HTC Incredible, Nexus One, Nexus S, G2, and last but certainly not least the EVO 4G!
The free app lets you manage your queue, search for available titles, start watching something on your EVO and pick up where you left off on your TV or computer (or vice versa), and of course watch as many movies, TV shows, and others as often as you want. So what are you waiting for?

I couldn’t find it through the Market on my phone either, but found it in the Marketplace with my pc. From there I just pushed the install to my phone. Unfortunately the app isn’t working for me. I keep getting an error about my time/date not being current (which it is). I’m running CM7 but may flash to another ROM to test this out.
Seems that Fresh 4.0.0.4 is having issues. I can’t get playback to work. Looks like it’s loading, then exits back to queue.
Nevermind trying another ROM, I finally got it working on CM7!
mine’s working on CM7.02, but the app took quite awhile to load the first time so I thought it was broken. Wait for the white screen to go away and all should work…

Finally. Iphone users have had it for some time now. As far as what i do in my queues i will still keep my bookmark widget, but i like it. I like the fact that if i wanted i could stream a movie(testing and works) Thanks for the hot tip(as always)

Does this mean that Hulu can’t be far off?
Im running Myns Warm 2.2 and when I try to load a video it tells me that streaming isnt available on my device yet. Might have to flash CM7 and see if I can get it to work.
I am currently streaming Tremors on my Evo and that makes me very happy!

Tested both my EVO and Nexus S 4g and the EVO actually looks better with a poorer GPU. Yellowish tint on the Nexus. Glad i am keeping my EVO.
Yikes, 21.5 MB on phone, after moving to SD Card still 16.1 MB of phone memory used. I need to upgrade to an EVO 3D

Got to say I was shocked seeing the EVO on the list. Figured it would b e for the latest and greatest. Just happy to see my EVO is still kicking but and taking names. I downloaded it to my EVO running CM7. Tested it over wifi and it worked ok. It was blurry for about 10 seconds then got really clear. About to test over 3G to see how it does.
also i meant to add, i tested over wifi. Smoothe stream after movie was loaded.

Does anybody know, if it’s even possible, how to use this along with teamHDMwIn mirroring or any mirroring app so that I’m able to turn off the phone’s screen while still displaying a movie on my TV?

Nope – it just thinks about displaying a video and then goes back to the list screen. I may load up CM 7 to be able to use this. I like Sense and all, but … dunno that it’s worth not having Netflix.

Maybe you should update your version of Flash because I’m on Myn’s as well and I can view videos on Netflix just fine.
This is a great day for Android. Of corse it’s a couple weeks too late for me, I just bought an iPad 2 for the Netflix instead of the Xoom.

I downloaded the app and love it but i do have one problem with it. The Quene only shows the Instant movies, etc. What about adding movies to the disc quene? Has anyone been successful in trying that? If so, please share.
As like JJSax … I am running it on Vaelpak 3.2 RC2 as well. The only thing I notice is the first 10 – 15 seconds of video are blurry and pixelated then it clears up. I chalk this up to bandwidth though and since it only takes about 10 seconds anyway… it’s not a show stopper. About damn time!

my rooted worked fine no issues – watched a full length movie.
Wife’s unrooted kept displaying that she needed to set the clock correctly – finally it worked, no idea what that was about except I almost got her to root her phone…
Running Netflix on Evo+CM6 flawless but I’ll probably rarely use it. I have Netflix on my DVD/Br player, our iPad,our Ipod Touch, all of the kids’ laptops. Poor Blockbuster never saw this coming.
I had a copy from xda that worked flawlessly but I decided to uninstall and download the official copy and i got the same message as some of you, something about the clock not being set correctly. I restarted my phone and it worked after that. So far it has been playing great on my evo. If I have any more issues I’ll reinstall the xda version.
I LOVE NOT HAVING TO WORRY HOW MUCH DATA I USE! Take that at&t users and your 2gb of measly data.
By the way I’m on a rooted evo running OMJ 2.2. Still haven’t tried the gingerbread version. Waiting a little longer to see how it goes.

I’m on Virus Gingerbread and Sense 2.1 (mixed with 3.0) and it pretends like its going to start a movie then it doesn’t. It just goes back to the home screen. I guess I either have to go to Cyanogenmod or back to stock- Lame!

nevermind – was on company’s WiFi and it was blocking it. works relatively well/clear picture even on 3G!
Using Spring Lover’s Rom, it works perfectly! So glad to see this, what a great morning haha. Quality is excellent on 3G which makes this usable for me. Otherwise, a Wifi-only netflix would have been useful in only limited situations.

Wow! It works great on CM 7.0.2.1 over 3G.
My office is 1/2 underground and I usually only get 1 bar on the signal meter. The video loads fast and looks great.
Running Fresh 3.70.651.1, kernel 2.6.32.27-netarchy-toastmod-4.3.4-cfs-nohavs-noUV-nosbc, was able to download and run netflix. Only tested it for about 5 minutes. I’m excited about this + HDMI cable the next time I find myself at a hotel with a decent TV.
Really sad to hear that the newer Fresh has issues, was considering upgrading to it, but think I’ll hold off until it and the stuck-at-full-bright issue are resolved
I hear ya, we actually got a Sony Dash not too long ago, and the deciding factor on getting it over an android tablet, was that it could do Netflix.
Still happy with the Dash, but there have been times when I thought a tablet would have been pretty nice for other stuff (like for RDPing to the desktop, the EVO screen is big, but not that big)
Just loving it on my EVO, my LED TV, my Blueray player and my computer. Everything should have Netflix…lol

Got mine the same day when Jenn posted about netflix on evo!!! has been working great. Even on 3g the picture quality is great just as if i was using a wifi connection. I’m also using myn warm rsl5 and so far no issues. My friend’s Evo is not rooted and he had trouble, as he was watching it shut off his Evo. i told him to delete and reinstall and take out battery and he said his has been working fine since. Also the netflix is only available on Evo, Incredible, one or two of the Nexus phones if any one doesnt know that.
Also the HBOgo app is also amazing!!
Uh, apple’s had this for a while on ipad and plays very well. They wont port it to iPhones because it doesnt make sense to watch a movie on postage stamp. I wont be watching netflix movies on my evo when i have netflix coming in through my wii and dvd/br player.
It’s been available for the iPhone for almost a year now. I actually watched 4 full seasons of “30 Rock” on it while my newborn napped on me.

Works great on my Non Rooted EVO also. And I also got it working on my Archos 10.1 tablet with an apk from XDA. It didn’t even show up in the market on my tablet. But it works great!

You don’t see it because it has been removed from the App Market. I was fortunate enough to download the app before it was removed from the Market. I have seen this happen with other apps before and you just have to keep checking back to see if the app has been put back into the Market. It is very good so I hope it comes back for you.
I upgraded to Android 2.3 on my EVO 4G and the netflix app wouldn’t work anymore. I tried uninstall and when i went back to the market, its not on there now. What gives?
@tiradora I have installed the new Ti-X ROM Zip and the Google Talk video chat works perfectly. Also has the Sprint apps and 4g and camera and camcorder.
