The HTC EVO 3D’s release date may still be up for debate, but according to this Radio Shack ad that landed in my inbox this morning, some other details are looking rock solid.
First there’s the price: $199.99 with new or upgrade two-year contract and $499.99 for the phone alone. The $10 monthly Premium Data you’ve grown to accept as part of your EVO 4G ownership will also be a part of your life with the EVO 3D. Nothing really surprising, but still nice to have confirmed in print.
Next up is something that will be familiar news to anyone who looked through the leaked system dump the other week: a copy of a 3D version of The Green Hornet is preloaded. It was unclear from the dump whether the Green Hornet 3D .apk was a movie or a game, so this ad clears that up for us.
And finally, there are a couple of Radio Shack exclusives: 1) you can trade in your EVO 4G or EVO Shift 4G for $100 toward the price of the EVO 3D and 2) you get a free download of The Black Eyed Peas’ “Phenomenon” song.
The radioshack.com/evo3d URL noted at the top the ad isn’t live yet, but that’s where to go when it is. And in the meantime (and if you haven’t done so already), don’t forget that you can get your preorder in at Radio Shack, Best Buy, and Sprint.

Hmmmm…well since I’m eligible for a new phone every year, I’m thinking about selling my EVO on Ebay. Pretty sure it’s going to grab more than a 100.00.
That $100 brings it down to $99 and that’s just too cheap for me to pass up.
No doubt selling my phone on Craigslist. I’ll get far more than $100 for it.
I, on the other hand, will keep my Evo 4G handy in case anything happens to my 3D….
with the demand being high for the Evo3D, im sure Asurion wont slip you a new phone in overnight shipping. It’ll be very like the Evo 4G and we’ll probably have to wait 1 full 7 days for the replacements to arrive due to “high demand”

What makes you think you’ll be able to get a good deal for your phone on ebay after a) the market gets flooded with used original Evos b) the stores mark down the price of the original Evo when the Evo 3D is released?

Why would I trade in my awesome evo 4g for only $100 when I can sell it for over $200 on ebay or for even more on craigslist? Shack must be out of their minds. If someone does this deal they are just as crazy as the shack. Oh well. I guess if your dumb enough to let your evo go for $100 then you deserve to be taken advantage of.
Couple of problems with this ad.
1. This hasnt been announced to RadioShack employees yet.
2. That doesn’t have anything’s tied to it, so not the real sku.
3. If you trade in your EVO 4G and it is in good condition you can get $170 for it.

5. Website is not even live.
Is it really worth upgrading from the EVO 4g to the EVO 3D, or would it be better to wait for the so-called EVO 2 (or whatever the name is of the next edition of evo)…?

If you always wait for the next big thing, you’ll never get anything. If the EVO2 is what you want, simply trade your EVO 4G in this time next year, but by this time next year your hardware will be 2 years old and the trade value Kaput. I buy and trade once if not twice a year with minimal out of pocket expense while keeping the latest and greatest in my pocket. If this were a car purchase I’d advise against it, but a cell phone is hardly a “Guns vs Butter” issue. Ciao

Hurry up and release the damn phone already, I’ve been waiting for it since it was just a rumor in early march. The manager at Sprint in Gilroy ca told me they were gonna get display models in this week. Right now my Htc Hero is ready to give up the ghost, it lags so much I just use Gvoice when I can.
Wow…I’m pretty shocked at this. I was fully expecting to pay $250+ for the 3D. I guess Sprint is really planning on this phone being HUGE for them if they’re keeping a device with these specs at $200. They must expect adoption to be absolutely massive, and setting this price point will ensure that happens. Glad I preordered…something tells me you won’t be able to find these in stock anywhere for at least several weeks, perhaps even a few months. If you’re planning on picking one up and haven’t preordered yet, might want to consider it!

You can clear the data yourself. I personally clear right in front of the customer after I help them transfer their contacts/pictures/video to their new phone.
Bottom line everyone this was exactly what I thought would happen 199.00 even thou sprint could’ve went the 250>00 route they would’ve got the money and a total sale anyway. Now the sell will be on day one if you have not reserved your device. For me right now it really does not matter it looks like I will hold onto my evo 4g I already have my 50.00 deposit down at bestbuy plus my 150.00 upgrade due for my new device so based on that I have to believe I do not have to put down any other money for my device evo 3d. More importantly I get to keep my Evo 4g as a backup until I decide to sell it which it is actually already sold it all depends on when I want to give it to that person. I don’t understand why people keep making this mistake. The phone will be $199 after all applicable upgrades and rebates are applied. You aren’t going to get the $150 off of the $199 because the $150 is already part of the discount process to get you to $199.
That 150 upgrade won’t help lower the price beyond the $200.
The 150 dollar upgrade is guaranteed to be at least that much off the full price (unactivated) of the device you buy. Sometimes it works out to be even more with additional rebates.
So what the companies like Radio Shack and Best Buy do is the math for you. The $200 quote price is after your $150 upgrade rebate plus any additional rebates being offered at the time.
That’s a real style sku from Radio Shack. They typically omit zeros (one or more in a row) and replace with a single dash.
The fact that the sku might not be working is also typical for an unreleased device. You’ll find products on a new planogram that aren’t in yet, and when you try the provided sku you get the “invalid sku” message. The sku could be reserved but not activated yet.
Is any of this a guarantee of a real ad? No. But if it’s fake, it’s a very good fake.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned but if you read closer it says it is 199 after trading in the Evo or Evo Shift in. So the Evo 3D is really 299.

If you put 50 dollars down for the EVO 3D at BB you still will owe them 150 when you get your phone. The price is 200 after your 150 off and the instant rebate. You do have to put a 150 bucks down to get that EVO 3D you have to pay 200 bucks out of pocket after they give you 150 off the full price of the phone is like 400 and something bucks.
No it says a 199 before 100 dollar trade in savings so it will be 99.. But I have too many accessories with my REVO 4G and I am sure I’ll get at least 250-300 for mine and if I have to sell it for 200 I will and I’ll sell my accessories separate maybe. I’m gonna post 2 prices on CL one with acessories and one without.
Backup everything before you bring it in and wipe it right there in the store.
EVo 3D 199.99 – $100+ for Evo 4G (i have heard $180 myself from RS employee) – $50 preorder credit = $50 range for the 3D now thats a deal!!
Also for those in the premier status predicament (cant upgrade because of the April change and being an original Evo 4G owner) tell any RS or BB employee to call a Sprint rep and ask them to allow you to upgrade to the 3D (been reports including myself with a 100% success rate they will allow you to as long as the rep calls and says you want to preorder through the store) …

I know I’ve replied to him twice about that. He thinks since he put 50 down he walks in to BB pays nothing and gets the phone. LOL! But he did post that 26 minute video. I watched 10 minutes of it really late last night and somehow my computer rebooted so I have to see where I left off. But after seeing more stuff I didn’t know about it made me want it even more. And Sprint told me thatif I brought my phone in there today they would give me 150. And online it said 36 bucks for a purple Lotus he told me 5. But last year I had to use my purple lotus for a few days before I got my EVO. I am gonna try Craigs List 1st I have alot of accessories.

And Andrew yeah I called Sprint today he told me 150 but he said bring it in today and I said I’m not going back to my Lotus for 2 weeks. Maybe a few days if I have too. But he said closer to 3D launch date it may not still be 150.. I was going to post it on Craigs List just to see what responses I get.

Looks like the EVO 3D to me. No ports on the bottom. Also, look at the top of the phone, the EVO 4G looks nothing like that, that’s what the EVO 3D looks like. It’s the EVO 3D in the picture.

Before April, I could save 150 w/2 yr contract, 75 w/1 yr.
Now it’s 75 w/2 yr contract, 25 w/1 yr for me.

Just saw a video where Sprint Rep stated that the device will only come with 8GB sdcard. Seriously? With all those 3D graphics? That is a serious oversight by HTC.
With all the next-gen devices put out now, especially the dual-core ones, there should be 16GB sdcard minimum.

I’m hearing this phone will be fully locked down. That means no custom ROMs or kernels. HTC just lost a customer. I’ll be getting the developerfriendly Galaxy S II instead.

I haven’t got a buyer for mine yet. My friend and me posted same ngiht on Craigs List but I posted mine 1st for 50 bucks more but we both have tons of accessories. Someone else had my same price posted with some accessories and hers is gone and my friend sold his with accessories so I lowered my price by 50 bucks. If I don’t sell it on Craigs List I’ll just go to Sprint for 150 and then maybe try to sell my accessories for 50 bucks or so to make up the difference. Radio Shack told me there only giving up to a 100 depending on what type of shape it’s in. So I am going to Sprint.
