In case you didn't know, Microsoft today unveiled some more information about its next iteration of Windows, aptly named Windows 8. Among many other tablet-focused features, 8 touts the ability to be run on ARM processors . . . much like the Tegra 2 found in your Dell Streak 7.
Windows 8 is able to run on older, much less-advanced hardware, so the Tegra 2 processor will probably be a fantastic fit for it. So my question for you is this one: if you could, would you throw Windows 8 on your Dell Streak 7?
The only problem I see in installing Windows 8 on a completely (hardware) stock Streak 7 would be your storage space, but that can easily be remedied by purchasing a larger SD card. Unfortunately, we won't be able to see how that's going to work because, while a developer preview of Windows 8 is available right now, it isn't going to be supporting ARM processors.
How does Windows 8 look to you guys? Is it something you'd like to see on your Dell Streak 7? I know that if there was a way, I'd be all over it.

Sure but I would rather throw Honeycomb,Icecream Sandwich, or Jelly Bean on a Windows Tablet instead
Hell no!
I would definitely try it out. Would be great to be able to test it without having to buy new hardware to see if it is something I’d like to upgrade to permanently. Nice to know that the hardware I already have will be able to run it.
I would if I still had it when I buy a galaxy note.
only if we dont get that ever so longed for Honeycomb update
I still miss WinMo 6.X Not so sure about WP7 or 8 which made it easier to buy into Android.
Honestly, I would put my effort into getting 6.X on my Streak 5″
I am quite sure the Streak 7 will see Honeycomb, and whatever updates to fix that, but that is as far as the platform will go, officially atleast.
And as far as the Galaxy note is concerned, it has not been announced for USA AT+T yet. And will be obsolete by the time it is released. We are already talking quad core, Soon.
Today I am enjoying my Streak 5, on build 351, nothing out there beats it. For my needs anyway.
My only problems are with android, and those are minor and few.
Peace
Hi Jenn…….Hell no!!!!!!….I do not want to install Windows 8 in none of my devices!!!!!!!…..all operating systems of Windows are heavy and delayed funcionality of all devices, also it cost is high, but Android is much lighter, versatile and…..free!!!!!.
Mauricio.
There is no way I would willingly put Windows anything on any device I own.
I would take the plunge and try Windows 8 on my Streak 7. I prefer a working platform that remains stable for longer than the Android system. By stable, I mean a system that does not come out in so many iterations that hardware makers cant keep track. Android continues to go through stages too frequently for hardware makers to keep up, I.e. DELL. It seems as if Google is still searching for the magic version of their OS but that keeps users, such as myself, a few iterations behind. Although it is Dell that has not released the latest version of Android for this device,I dont fault them. I believe that Google needs to slow down on new versions and allow industry to catch up. Anyway, that is my perspective and everyone has an opinion of their own.
By the way, I could flash one of the latest ROMs for the Streak, if I felt confident enough, but I prefer to wait at this time. I prefer to use the device rather than tinker with it.

Forgot to mention that I would like a platgorm that I can run industry, third party, software onsuch as AutoCAD, Google Sketch Up and other graphic programs. The licenses for those I own already are not useable on Android. That is very important to me!
Exactly how I feel. I hope some developer release will be compatible with ARM processors.
My name is Calob.
But actually, Windows 7 is very light. I’m actually running Professional on my MacBook Pro more than I run OS X Lion or Ubuntu. I’m very unbiased but Windows 7 is really good, and Windows 8 promises to be even better.
Ofcourse why not!…thanks for telling us the problem and with it is solution that purchasing a larger SD card for installing Windows 8 on a completely stock Streak 7…
Frankly after running Windows 8 developer preview on a Vm the other day I think that microsofts decision is the worst possible outcome for desktop users. great if this was a tablet only os but it will be a bad move if they push this on desktop users.
Another reason to stick with osx
Installed DJ-Steve’s Latest HoneyStreak ROM this Friday, September 16th. Wow, it’s awesome. Everything, including 4G, works just fine. I’m very pleased with the Streak 7 in this configuration and will save the Win 8 updates for my PC.
Thanks, DJ-Steve!

WM6.5 was very powerful for the business user, and it included Graffiti text input standard.
I wonder if W8 has graffiti?
One of the biggest frustrations with WM6.5 was that it could not fully sync with MS Outlook. Android can’t either, so they are ultimately both losers in my book.
IT will looks like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-0M0vMkh18
how did you get 4g to work??? i have DJ on mine but the tmobile part dont work only wifi ??
