Adobe Flash Player to be updated one more time for Ice Cream Sandwich

6a00d83451c9ec69e2015436becda4970c-300wi[1]Earlier this month we reported on Adobe's plans to discontinue Flash for mobile devices. At the time it did not seem like much of an issue since Adobe promised support on all current platforms for a few more years.

But here's an interesting tidbit to think about.  Gingerbread (Android 2.3) and Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) are two different platforms. This is something users of ICS on other devices are currently realizing, as there is no Flash Player available in the Market for them – yet.

Adobe has confirmed that it will be releasing an update for Flash Player to the Market by the end of the year, which means that the web will not lose anything when we get ICS on our EVOs.

It was weird hearing Adobe throw in the towel after its long-standing battle with an Apple shutout and recently televised promotional tie-ins with other Android devices. It would have been shocking to see Flash completely fade from mobile view by the beginning of 2012.
