HTC and Sprint have been on a roll lately. In addition to the HTC EVO 4G and EVO 3D both getting OTA software updates that remove Carrier IQ, in addition to bringing general performance improvements to both devices, the HTC EVO Design 4G also has an OTA software update available right now. This latest update brings the device up to software version 2.12.651.5, and includes the following changes:
- Security Update
- Updated Peep client (to align with Twitter)
- Updated Sprint Zone client
- Battery life improvements
- 3LM Enterprise Tool Access (no user interface changes)
While not specifically mentioned by name, it can probably be safely assumed that the "Security Update" refers to the removal of CIQ, since this changelog is almost identical to the ones for the EVO 4G and EVO 3D. You can initiate the update right now, or wait for your device to get a notification on or after January 24.

Hello, My EVO Design is rooted. Is it unsafe to do the OTA update? If so, how may i go about updating the phone?
Checked for update on my evo 4g. said it was a large file, to either activate 4g or go wifi.
So i went back to hit 4g.when i returned to check updates it was no longer there. Thanks for nothing Sprint!
Not as of now, killed root access, I would wait on the update if interested in root privilages
