Previous rumors regarding a launch of the HTC EVO 3D on prepaid Sprint MVNO Virgin Mobile have now been confirmed. The device will be rebranded the HTC EVO V 4G and take advantage of Virgin Mobile's new 4G Beyond Talk plans.
The prepaid carrier will make use of Sprint and Clearwire's WiMAX network to offer unlimited 4G data, along with unlimited text and 300 voice minutes, all for $35/month. The device will sell for $299.99 with no commitment.
Interestingly enough, Sprint implies in its press release that the EVO V 4G will launch with Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 3.6. Hopefully, this means that Sprint-branded EVO 3D handsets will also receive the update before May 31, as it wouldn't make much sense for Sprint to launch an identical device in its prepaid division with more current software than what's available for post-paid customers. However, Sprint has been known to make decisions in the past that don't make much sense.
In any case, you can read the full press release below.

That is pretty impressive pricing..i wonder how their service is…
Wow…ifsprint EVO 3d doesn’t get ics before this……
i was thinking the same thing cuz i love my evo 3d and not really into jumping on bandwagons just cuz something new is out
I wonder if they would let me trade my 3D straight up or whether I can switch to their service with my current phone. $35 a month is half what I am paying.
This does present a tiny conundrum for Sprint. They really should get the ICS update out to the EVO 3D before this is launched or it would be a pretty big slap in the face to those, including me, who bought the EVO 3D.
Since Sprint’s EVO 3D has been effectively discontinued, it would make sense for Sprint to step up and update it before the end of the month. I guess we shall wait and see.
I’m seriously considering moving back to this phone when my contract is up with Sprint at the end of the year. Galaxy SII isn’t ALL that much better and I could do with an extra $840 in my pocket each year.
Same as Sprint’s. They are a subsidiary. The only real drawback from what I can tell is that Sprint actively throttle’s 3G data after 2.5 GB. The new WiMax rules are fully unlimited though.
my question is, can you take your current Sprint EVO 3D and do some magic on it to get it to work for Virgin?
