Following last weekend's preorder countdown clock, HTC EVO 4G LTE orders are live right now on Sprint's dedicated landing site. Additionally, Sprint just sent out reminder emails to anyone who signed up to be updated. The screenshot above was pulled from that email.
Interestingly enough, the fine print at the bottom of the email states that the preorder offer ends 5/17/2012, which is one day before the rumored (and unofficially confirmed) release date of Friday, May 18. This lends even more credence to the possibility that we will have the EVO 4G LTE in our hands in less than two weeks.
A lot of people have already commented on last night's post about EVO 4G LTE preorders, and almost all of them have made the jump and reserved the device for themselves. How about you? If you did, be sure to let us know about your experience doing so below.
Update #1: Sprint is also sending current EVO owners a promotional text about EVO 4G LTE preorders. The text reads: "Pre-order the HTC EVO 4G LTE now! For details on this incredible device and how to pre-order, visit http://sprint.us/evo4g"
Update #2: We have received several reports from readers that Sprint is telling customers phones will ship on May 15 or 16.
Thanks, Richard, Brett, and Spencer!

BUT I WANT IT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW…….
I was on the preorder bandwagon for the Evo and the Evo 3d. I am waiting this one out. I want to see some actual reviews before buying this. And waiting to see what the US version of the S3 brings to game. Looking forward to hearing what you all think of the new EVO.
You can get pre order from wirefly for 149.99 for new or renewing contract.
I thoght about preordering it, but with the rumors that is almost-root proof, I’ll be waiting for news about the Galaxy S III and even the next iPhone…
I love the Evos, but the prospect of no AOSP ROMs is pretty bad for enthusiasts.
Pulled the trigger on it already.
Pulled the trigger on it already.
I tried, but due to being the victim of sprint identity theft a few years back I’ll just have to trudge down to the store.
I’ll most likely get this phone for my upgrade, but I’d also like to see some reviews, hands on and previews are nice, but they aren’t the same thing. We have some good options to choose from currently.
I think May 18th date is pretty firm. Spoke with a customer service rep to confirm billing address and they said the ship date would be on or around 5/15. Hoping to get mine before the “official” 5/18 release date!
Giving Wirefly a try. Won’t be the first to receive the phone – they say orders don’t ship until official release date – but it’s free Fedex, 149 vs. 199, plus a $10 Google Wallet credit, plus I can cancel before ship date if something better shows up.
Works for me!
Have you been following our coverage of the HTC One Series at Pocketables? That should give you some idea of what to expect from the EVO 4G LTE… http://www.pocketables.com/htc-one
Just finished my order! can’t wait!
lol I got one of those preorder texts but I thought it was scam imitating a real sprint text and deleted it >.<
Anyone try calling Sprint Retentions to ask for an upgrade bump? I did that last June to get early upgrade from my original EVO to the EVO 3D.
I might try calling them to see if I get anywhere. Last June I got early upgrades granted for two EVOs on my account that still had a year to go.
I tried and my upgrade is in sept. they want to charge me $45 for early upgrade status still debating but think im just going to wait no point in rushing in if they don’t even have lte up yet and my OG wimax is going to be kicking it’s ass until then.
going to wait with my EVO 3D till Sprint formally announces (detailed) LTE coverage plans.
The HTC One X is reported to not have an unlockable bootloader by AT&T. until I KNOW the new EVO will be rootable, I’m holding off. In fact, the hassle to unlock the 1.5 3VO is making me consider the S3.
I placed my order this morning on Sprintat 8:30 this morning but got a message at 9:56 saying it was back ordered.
Last month I called Sprint to try and get my eligibility changed from Jan 2013 to “now.” After escalating to a higher level service rep they offered me a buy-up for $105, with an immediate $100 account credit. So it cost me $5 to get my upgrade. Might be worth a try.
Just got off the phone with sprint, the accounts manager checked the inventory and there are 2 LTE phones coming out on the 18th of May. She checked 2 inventory platforms that they use to see what stock they have and CONFIRMED that the EVO 4G LTE is coming out on May 18th, I originally called to have my upgrade pushed from June to this month the earliest they said I could receive it was on the 18th. And then she went even further to confirm the release date. She also said to check phonearena.com for an unbiased release date because they usually are correct. She then secondly personally set me up for a phone call on the 18th to state that my upgrade has been moved to that day. I am the happiest sprint customer right now.
I’m not eligible for an upgrade until next year, so I just paid the full price for the phone. $549.99 from Sprint seems to be the best price so far today.
I was told they ALL say backorder until 24hrs before they ship.
You paid full price? Sprint is letting people buy up there contract for like 115 bucks. My friend did it. They billed his account 115 bucks and now instead of waiting till June 2013 he gets to upgrade now. So were getting the EVO for 150 plus the 115 that’s 265 and he will sell his 3D and accessories.
The woman I spoke to on the phone said she wasn’t showing anything in the system about being able to buy up the rest of my contract, so I just ordered online after I hung up. Will try to speak to someone in person at a local store later and see if they can do anything.
The message keeps changing on the sprint site when I check order status. At first it said the phone was back ordered. Then it said it would ship on the 15th. Then it was back to back ordered status.
This is the latest:

I just pre ordered mine from best buy and ill even get a $50 gift card to use off of the price making it $149.99. My upgrade was June the 6th because I had added a line to get tye 3d then swapped to my line. Sprint told me on the phone that they would move my upgrade up to the 18th also. Thats why im thinking the 18th because I’m not tue only 1 they reset to the 18th……cant wait!
No dice. I talked to three different people and they all said the same thing. Oh well.
I just checked tonight and this is what the status shows:
