The HTC EVO 3D was just spotted last night on CBS's Survivor, one of the longest-running reality series on primetime television. It appeared towards the beginning of the episode, as a few of the contestants found the device hidden in a wooden Sprint box near a tree. They opened the box, only to discover that there is some kind of clue on the screen, in addition to several "tree mail" video messages from loved ones that are waiting for the various contestants.
I've never regularly watched the show, so this was the first time that I've heard of "tree mail." Let's just say I might have accidentally shot some coffee through my nose, but luckily it wasn't hot.
Anyway, it's interesting that Sprint is still spending money to display the EVO 3D so prominently on television, even though it's trying to get rid of it and make room for newer LTE devices. Oh, well – I guess we'll never know what the marketing geniuses at Sprint are really thinking.

Um I don’t think that is the 3d. I’m using the 3d right now and at top where this one says sprint in the muddle the 3d has HTC on the left and sprint on the right and the middle is nothing

No, it’s the 3D – look at the menu button, and the camera button that’s clearly visible in the last photo. When carriers make product placements like this, they usually use special units with more prominent branding. Survivor always uses EVO’s when doing these types of reward challenges (seeing a message from a loved one and then they show up on the island/beach). Actually, they used to use the old Palm Pres prior to the EVO line. =) Sprint has been a major sponser for Survivor for a looong time.

Yeah when I watched it the host said in tree mail u received the evo 3d from Sprint. Obviously this was previously filmed so I bet Sprint would rather have had the LTE on there lol.
Does anybody still watch Survivor? After the first season I was done with it.
I think its still pretty cool. Funny watching people be evil to each other all for money lol.

Jeff (the host) also identified it and showed it as the 3D during the challenge. The winners got to use it for pics/videos on their reward later.

Look again at the upper photo. The camera button is to the left of the Sprint logo on the side where the charging port is. The lower photo is correct.
If only the resolution of the phone was actally as nice as the superimposed visuals thry use.
Oh yeah. It is pretty hard to notice but I do see it now. Weird though cuz I think whoever wrote this article took stills from the actual video. I could be wrong though. Good eye.
Do you really think Sprint was behind this??? Please, get a life! I love HTC and have owned every EVO iteration but it’s articles like this that makes G&E just plain stupid. OMG did you see the EVO on tonight’s episode of…whatever! Who gives a crap if an HTC phone shows up on a network show??? Well maybe HTC. Big effin deal!
Well seeing Sprint is the shows #1 sponsor and the 3 letters HTC were never mentioned once and Sprint is throughout the entire thing, yeah Sprint was behind it.
A lot of people enjoy these sightings, and we get reader tips about them all the time.
