If you miss the Power Saver features on the HTC EVO 3D, we may just have something even better for you. G&E reader Mark recently wrote in, alerting us of a great find: a hidden power saver menu on the HTC EVO 4G LTE, with even more ways to control what your phone will do when it’s running low on juice.
To access this menu, you’ll need to download an app that creates shortcuts on your device; we recommend QuickShortcutMaker. When creating your app shortcut, look for “Power saver settings” – in QuickShortcutMaker, this is located in the Activities tab, under the Settings app.
Then, just follow the on-screen instructions to add this shortcut to one of your homescreens, and going forward, you’ll always have access to everything that appears on the right – including various connectivity and screen settings on a very granular level.
Apparently, these settings kick in once your phone reaches a certain battery level, so choose wisely!
This is an awesome find, and you don’t even need root access, so thanks to Mark – and be sure to contact us or post in our forums if you have other helpful hints you think our readers would want to know about!

If you are on a custom ROM, good chance the DEV has already enabled this menu. I know on Viper, it shows up as an app in the drawer.
Or maybe HTC will get smart and enable the ability to get to it easier than having to download an app for it, like they should for that awful decision of them to choose to turn off data from 12am-7am every day, and then having to download the app to turn that off too!
I liked the power saver feature on the 3D and wondered why it wasn’t on this phone. I didn’t even know about the data being turned off from 12-7 I am always on wifi at home and am usually up till 1 or 2. But I got the app just to use the power saver and try it. It’s nice to have the app got good reviews and I may like it to use for other things.
Thank you! Perfect timing too, I’m headed to the beach today and not entirely trusting my phone to make it the whole time.
Watch out for sand on the Gorilla Glass
This can also create the missing Voice search shortcut. “….voicesearcrh.recognitionactvity”.
. I prefer this method instead of using a previously reccomended by G&E app, GVS. Now this app does both functions, instead of GVS doing only 1. Thanks for all the good tips G&E!! Keep up the great work!
I created a shortcut via AnyCut when I got my AT&T One X several weeks ago, but no matter what I changed it actually had no effect on the phone. I assume HTC disabled the menu for this reason. Does it actually work on the new Evo? Try this app if you want to keep your wifi awake at night: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708492
I’ve said it before, but the article G&E did back in the day on 20 tips to improve your evo’s battery life is what brought me here. I’m expecting not too far down the road we’ll see another one for the 4g lte?
In all honesty though, battery life on the 4g lte is a huge step up. I average 2-3 hours on the phone per day, web browsing, lots of text, and I still average around 50% left after being off the charger for 13 hours.
My battery paranoia has gone away with this phone =]
It’s being worked on
Excellent!
Yeah the battery life is awesome, but I actually miss the music player on the Evo 3D it had surround sound setting that sounded killer in my car, I was wondering how to get that feature on the new evo. As great as beats audio sounds I noticed that I had to raise the volume up in my car. Even the live setting is good but either I must be going deaf or the setting options are lower.
Odd, did they hide it so they could quell any questions of battery life with the unremovable battery? I get great battery life. 14 hours.
Also oddly missing, the shortcut for Downloads. you have to go to the default web browser, open it’s menu and go to downloads…..I’m confused to as why it’s missing….hope it comes back in an update.
The battery is amazing I still haven’t even seen yellow in my new EVO yet. This phone is the bees nees
i’m assuming these apply 100% of the time (versus at pre-determined time-bands across the day). does anyone know if there is a way to control when these apply, or do we have to somehow use something like ‘juice’ to do this?
