Amid all the news of Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich updates for everyone but Sprint users, and CyanogenMod 9, it’s probably been pretty easy to forget about CyanogenMod’s other project: 7.2. As most people in the root community know, CM7 is the CyanogenMod team’s custom version of Gingerbread, which they’ve been working on for quite a while now. But because of all the other fanfare going on in the Android world at the moment, the news that CyanogenMod’s stable release is available has largely been swept under the rug.
As of right now, we could only locate this ROM for the original HTC EVO 4G; from what I can tell, the EVO 3D is still stuck on RC 2. The stable release should make for an overall faster and smoother experience on the OG EVO and fix most previous bugs that plagued users in the past.
If you’ve flashed this latest version, be sure to let us know how it’s running!
[CyanogenMod] Thanks, Justin!

I thought 7.2 stable had already been released for the EVO 4G – it shows as of 6-16-12 per the source link. Are they working on an additional one beyond the stable already released?
Anyone know how to get 3-way calling to work?
What are you looking at?!?
Supersonic hit final version 7.2.0 on 2012-06-16, almost 2 weeks ago. RC3 dropped on 2012-05-26, over A MONTH AGO!
And “CM7.2RC3 is available has largely been swept under the rug”?!? Well unless, you know, you made any attempt what so ever to look for it. O.o
Then Shooter basically had development canceled LONG AGO on the official device tree when it was only in a very unstable CM7.1.0-alpha3. I believe they are waiting for the code drop from HTC for Shooter’s ICS drivers before they proceed with CM9. Shooter will never see CM7.x.
You have now become an unreliable news source. Terrible this article hasn’t been corrected or just deleted. You publish this article on 6/28 about a release of something over 30 days ago only to miss the real cutting news of non-RC final CM 7.2 released on 6/26.
Time to unsubscribe and move on. Good luck.
Btw, 7.2 final is running great on my OG EVO, but I know this is off topic for this article and doesn’t answer your question you posed. Lol
Not to point this out, but my wife’s EVO 4G has been on STABLE CyanogenMod 7.2 for well over a week now. RC3 was out several weeks ago.
By the way, CM7.2 runs spectacularly on my wife’s EVO 4G. It’s so smooth, power efficient and fast. It uses well over 100 MB less RAM than stock Sense did. The ICS back ported features are awesome. Anyone with an EVO 4G should try this ROM. It literally transforms the handset into a modern (2011/2012) feeling experience, IMO.
One more thing. CM7 for the EVO 3D hasn’t really been in development for a while.
I believe all of the work has been more towards CM9 and it’s just waiting for HTC to drop the source code to finish that up. If you look at the Sensation, it’s got a CM9 ROM, so the EVO 3D should follow.
Yeah, Stable final release has been out for a while…
You’re a tad bit late for a “news source”
Sorry guys – the original article has been updated. The original story was submitted by a reader, and since I don’t have an OG EVO myself, I had to rely on Google and the CM forums to fact check and verify everything. Unfortunately, neither proved very reliable.
Where’s the cm9 support for the og evo? The. Nexus s and galaxy s has it, so why not the evo?
There are unofficial CM9 ROMs for the EVO 4G. AOKP ROMs as well. Check around on xda-developers. Some even have the camera and video recording working pretty well.
There may be an official CM9 ROM eventually. Right now, it’s only supported up to CM7.2 though.
