Today is the official release date of the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the latest superphone in the EVO lineup at Sprint. This means that if you haven’t preordered your phone yet, you should be able to go to most Sprint and Best Buy stores and pick yours up today – assuming that inventories last, of course.
Those who preordered through many third-party retailers should also receive their devices very soon, or be able to pick them up in stores, as well.
Sprint is making sure that people who signed up to receive EVO 4G LTE notifications are aware of today’s release, as well: Last night, I received the following text message:
SprintFreeMsg: The HTC EVO 4G LTE will be in participating Sprint stores tomorrow! For details on this device, visit http://sprint.us/evo4g Reply END to stop.
I also received the email that appears below shortly after midnight:
If you venture out to a Sprint or Best Buy store today, be sure to let us know your experiences! And happy EVO day, everyone!

Got my wife’s a couple days ago at a Walmart, I had to call to activate, found another one for myself at a different Walmart last night, had to call and active it myself also.
how much is walmart selling it for?
I’ll answer you haha I got mine for $167.48 after taxes and etc. I believe there is a $36 activation fee, but I have not been charged it (yet)
Just checked 2 Best buys and 2 Sprint Stores. None of which receveied any and didn;t know when they would.
Called Walmart they had 1. I Drove there in 3.7 minutes and got it
Is it ridiculous to wait outside of Best Buy an couple of hours before they open? I don’t want to look ridiculous. HA.
I heard there were people camped out last night here at a Brooklyn Best Buy. I want this phone but not that bad. Im heading out now to Best Buy. Ill let you guys know how it goes as soon as i get there. Ttyl.
Just got back from going to two best buys. No EVO LTE’s. They are only filling pre-orders. Wow sprint and HTC really…. And the best buy mobile guy told me today is not the release date and the phone would be coming soon. So I told him to check out this thing called the web and still would not sell me one,and they had more then 10 in stock. I give up.
up-date. I called best buy back just to see if they ever got the info. the guy on the phone at besy buy checked and came back and told me yes we have them right now for sale!!! so what did i do. I got one. WOW i got one.
Walked into best buy in Acworth GA at 10 this morning and walked out with my new EVO. They had a bunch that wernt pre orders still left.
Best wishes to all those picking up the phone today. The contract on my EVO 4G won’t expire until September, so you will get to enjoy the LTE for several months before I get in on the fun.
Call Sprint Customer service *2 and ask/beg for an early renewal. That’s what I did for my wife’s line. Took me 3 calls, and asked to speak to a manager/supervisor each time. Third one finally gave it, jus t be patient, persistent, and not rude. Did this Thursday. Wife wasn’t due for upgrade til Oct 2012. Did have to agree to pay activation fee (charged to Sprint bill). Good luck!
Walked into Sprint Store in Racine WI and got it all done with two new EVO’s in 20 minutes
EVO LTE BAD ASS PHONE!!!
I picked up my pre-order (placed after the delay) at a best buy in manhattan today. They had enough phones for all pre-orders, plus 1 additional phone, that phone was sold to the person sitting next to me.
Got mine this morningfrom Walmart for $167. Life is good
Got mine today from sprint store I pre ordered on the 7th tho. Finally!! It’s amazing! Worth the wait. So pretty and.Fluid. good luck to everyone!!
I pre-ordered mine at Radio shack, and got my phone last week. The price was $199.99 minus the $50 gift card price went down to $149.99, on top of that, because of the delay in receiving my phone, Radio shack dropped the price down by another $25, bringing my final price to $124.99!!!!!
By the way, love this phone.
Hope I win that seideo case!!!
Preordered mine from compusa/tigerdirect for 149.99 just got an email with a tracking number ill have mine monday. I cant wait, I already messed around with a friends the phone is awesome. Cant wait to activate and root
Bought mine yesterday afternoon from a dams club, was $168.
Hey everyone, its me Dante from Brooklyn NYC, sitting in my livingroom typing on my new EVO LTE. Here’s how my day went. Got to best buy at Bay Pkwy ..there was a line…I waited for 20 mins before a best buy staff member came over and told us there were only enough Evos for those who pre ordered… I left there and called the Best Buy at Kings Plaza Mall and they said they have several for sale to the public. Needless to say… I sped over to the mall and all was well. I got my upgrade (which by the way i wasn’t due for a year until I paid sprint $150 using their upgrade buyout promotion) it…the phone cost me $199 plus they gave me the $50 gift card which I used to buy an Otterbox defender case. So where there’s a will there’s a way. I wasn’t due an upgrade but being such a Techno Junkie with a bad EVO Habit.. I came out of pocket a total of $300 and I feel very satisfied with this siiick!!! Device….gotta go…phones ringing…Peace!!
You suck
Got mine!
i preordered mine. i didnt realize how amazing it was until after i went back and played with my og evo.. this phone is ridiculous. also a note i didnt see many people touch on, it deletes messages uber quick which was one of my major concerns about the og evo, and the battery life is amazing to me. i love this phone
Got 2 (me and wife). Just walked into best buy, they verified that the 2 he had, weren’t for pre-orders, and we were good. I had to argue with him a bit, about the trade-in program, and the $50 gift card, but eventually, it was all good
Got my EVO tonight at best buy, after gift cards I ended up paying 113$ pretty sweet. The best buy website can tell you which locations have stock
How cool was this. I called a sprint store in Ontario CA. to see if they got any in stock and was relieved that they did but I was told that they would only hold it for half an hour so I rushed to grab it. When I finally got there (longest 5 min of my life) j/k I was told that I was the first evo 4g lte owner in Ontario. yey. They were also very exited to open the box and play with the phone cause it was the first they received. they couldn’t even figure out where the sd card went or how to open the back of the phone. They had a sales rep, a mister know-it-all type of individual swearing that there was no sd slot on the phone (rookie) but me been a loyal and devoted goodandevo follower had to show them what’s up. At the end everyone, employees and costumers, feel in love with the phone. My pride and joy. Lol. btw love you Jenny. Marry me!! J/k mister Jenny’s husband.
I went to a sprint store at about 1 p.m. on Saturday, and was told they had sold out. So i went to another sprint store in my area, and they had them but there were no guarantees that i would get one as there was a very long wait. I waited for about an hour, and got one of the last ones! Thank god! I love the phone, its FAST! the battery life is pretty good, and its so thin! Anyways the LTE at the store would randomly turn on and i tried it and it was insane! (I live in Kansas City, so i would assume sprint has the towers set up, they just don’t have them set to work yet) The person setting up my phone also said he would randomly get the signal too. So LTE in the cities that Sprint posted isn’t too far away hopefully! Anyways i only paid $150 for it because i sold my old evo. I’m so happy with this new phone!
correction ** i paid $134 for it, i got $65 for my old evo.
I bought my Evo 4G LTE today at Bestbuy. I signed up for the best buy 50 dollar gift card a few months ago. that was a tip that was given on this website. Plus, they have an offer for a 50 dollar gift card if you activate a phone at best buy going right now. So, with taxes are paid 114 dollars. (winning!) I’ve had all three. Better and better each time.

Picked up wife’s phone from BB Sat nite got: $50 OG Evo trade-in, $50 phone freedom credit, $50 purchase of Sprint phone gift card, and $50 Evo LTE preorder. FINAL COST $10.42 (tax). Thanks G & E for all the cost saving tips!
How did you get a sprint phone gift card? I would have liked to get that one.
Only at BB, purchase any Sprint phone, get $50 BB gift card. Offer ends 6/9/12.
anyone heard anything else from Wirefly? Really hoping I get mine tomorrow from them…but I am guessing it is not likely given no shipping email.
You guys…. You guys…. (best cartman voice)
Ringer volume = shutter volume for camera.
So yeah whatever volume level your ringtone (up/down thingy on top rt of phone) will control your shutter volume for the camera.
Nice tip.
Local Sprint store called me to come and pick mine up. Got there, and they had more than 20 unsold units. My wife tried mine out and within 2 minutes, decided she wanted one too… So far, they are both working out very well.
On the 2nd I walked into a Sprint owned store when they opened at 10am and purchased the very first one they sold that day. There was one other person there interested in the phone, they got #2. It’s a great phone, so much better than the 3D, well worth the upgrade.
Definitely buy the Zagg Invisible Shield, it does a great job of hiding the ugly backplate and makes it look all 1 matte color.
Is there anyone who has received theirs from wirefly? outside of the email friday saying they would be shipping them out saturday, I’ve seen nothing else.
I got an email from Wirefly. I’ll be getting my LTE tomorrow, according to FedEx.
I finially decided that I wanted to upgrade to the evo lte, so I searched around for a store in a reasonable distance from me that had them in stock. The sprint store in the mall by me was the only one so that’s where I went. I walk in the store and asked the salesman to see the lte and he hands me a dummy. I was surprised by how big it was but I didn’t care so I told him that I will buy one. He said your in luck we have some in stock. I told him that I don’t have an upgrade and I want to buy it at the full price. He then proceeds to tell me that he cannot sell it to me unless I have an upgrade. At first I thought he was joking, but then I noticed he was laughing. I asked him what kind of crap is that? He said I was the third person he had to turn away for this reason. He actually told me to try Bestbuy or Radioshack. So I can buy it at full price from a third party but not from sprint, that’s just retarded. I have to be locked into another 2 year agreement just to buy the phone from them. Sprint really needs to get their head out of their ass.
Love hearing about people getting there phones. I was one of the lucky ones who got my preorder from Best Buy on the 24th. Best phone ever! You people enjoy your new phones.
I love my EVO. Is anyone thinking about returning their EVO to get the Samsung Galaxy 3? Is there a good comparison video out there?
Got mine Saturday. I love it! And I have no idea what people are talking about with the battery sucking. The only thing that sucks is it isn’t removable . Not a huge deal, but we all know sometimes, you just got to pull a battery. I was in a meeting Tuesday, used Skype for video chat during the meeting for over 5 hours on Wi-Fi and had over half of my battery left. True story. I was shocked to say the least. Best battery I have seen to date! Great phone and I am definitely happy. The screen is freaking amazing!
