Sprint just announced earlier today that the HTC One V would finally be released here in the US on Virgin Mobile, one of Sprint’s prepaid divisions. This confirms previous rumors about this device on Virgin, and it will be compatible with Virgin’s existing plans, which I already analyzed in a bit more depth a few days ago. But to me, the most exciting part of this story is that Virgin Mobile now has quite a trio of very strong devices – the iPhone, the EVO 3D (or EVO V 4G), and now the One V – which make it very competitive, perhaps even making a few postpaid customers think twice before signing a new two-year contract.
To refresh your memory, the One V has a 3.7-inch screen, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and 1500mAh embedded battery. It also comes with Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4.0 (including Beats Audio and all that awesome camera software), which actually gives it a leg up over the the EVO 3D on Virgin Mobile right now – and it costs $100 less ($199.99 unsubsidized).
The full press release appears below, but we want to know: is Virgin Mobile’s new line up making you take a second look at the prepaid carrier, especially since monthly plans are as low as $35/month?
