RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter is a Windows application that will leave your HTC EVO 4G LTE in a rooted state with a custom recovery application and superuser/busybox packages installed.
From the RegawMOD development page:
What it does:
- Verifies Device and Battery Level (Needs to be charged to at least 40% before running)
- Reboots to Bootloader and Gets Unlock Token
- Sends Token to HTCdev.com
- Retrieves Unlock_code.bin
- Unlocks Bootloader
- Flashes TWRP Recovery
- Sends Superuser packages and busybox to device
You’ll need a Windows computer, the HTC drivers, and .NET 4.0 installed. Links to the drivers and .NET 4 are on the development page if you don’t have them already.
They’ve produced a great walkthrough video of the app rooting an HTC EVO 4G LTE if you’d like to see it in action before freeing your phone from its shackles.
An important thing to remember is that you need to clear your Google Wallet settings before you do this because, if you don’t, you might lose the Wallet/secure capabilities of your phone forever.

Why would I want to void my warranty. Why not just wait for s_off
Because you may be waiting a year or so… we lost S-OFF with the 3D for about 6 months and had a bunch of people running around claiming they were just $6 away from producing a working S-OFF for months.
Also, as Sprint’s own documents show, it doesn’t void your warranty on the hardware unless it’s proven that your rooting blew it up. http://www.pocketables.com/2012/05/update-returning-your-rooted-evo-to-sprint-for-repair-in-rooted-condition.html
I think a very important reminder is that rooting your device can break google wallet if not done correctly.
Rooting is no more dangerous to google wallet than a factory reset.. They can both break it if you dont clear the the settings beforehand.
