Just as the company promised one week ago, Apple has released iOS 6. The update is available to download for compatible iDevices – devices like the new iPad and iPad 2; iPhone 3GS, 4, and 4S; and fourth-generation iPod touch.
In addition to Apple’s new in-house mapping service, iOS 6 adds over 200 additional features. Some of those features include system-wide Facebook integration, Siri enhancements, and Apple’s new Passbook app that allows you to store digital cards, passes, and tickets in one easy-to-find location.
To install it on your compatible iDevice, simply head on over to your nearest iTunes-equipped PC or Mac, plug the device in, and clicking the ‘Check for Update’ button in your device’s page. Of course, you can also force an over-the-air update by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
The update for my new iPad weighed in at 791MB, but depending on which device you own, your size will vary.
Let us know if you download iOS 6 today – and if you do, what your thoughts on it are!

Your update is 791mb? Mine is 630mb for my new iPad…I wonder why the difference?
So I’ve got iOS 6 loaded now…one thing I notice straight away is it finally connects to my 5ghz wifi, before it would only connect to the 2.4, so I am enjoying the faster speeds. Siri is fun, looking forward to mucking with that, but not sure if I would use her for anything a google search wouldn’t do. More as I explore…
I have read that maps are kind of a disappointment. Any personal comments regarding this?
I know that turn by turn navigation must be awesome, since you didnt have it before. But overall there seems to be alot of mixed feelings about ditching proved and known google maps.
going to have to see what this new OS is all about, then download Google Maps and forget about apples cheap knock off maps software.
