AwesomeBeats is a modified DSPManager for non-Sense based ROMs that brings the Beats Audio experience to most CyanogenMod/AOSP variants in the HTC EVO lineup.
Generally, when people are contemplating leaving Sense, there are a couple of things that bring them back: the camera and the audio. While HTC Beats by Dre audio may be a gimmick to some, it’s a religion to others. And for those like me, it’s a way to make some inexpensive headphones produce a much richer sound.
Awesome Beats should work on any CyanogenMod 9 or above/AOSP-based ROM, although I’ve only played with it on the HTC EVO 3D and the EVO 4G LTE myself. Your experience will depend on your particular phone and ROM combo.
While flashing Awesome Beats should not mess up your sound settings, it’s probably better to err on the side of caution and make a full nandroid backup before flashing.
If you give it a whirl, let us know what ROM you’re using and how it works for you. Although I’ve used Awesome Beats before, I have yet to use it when I have my good headsets around where I can actually hear the difference.

Paul thanks I was looking for something along the lines of this. Also keep up the good work, I enjoy your write-ups!
im about to try it out now. thanks
I use Beats in my EVO 3D with the MeanROM. I believe I can tell a difference from the stock, to the Beats. But it also comes with other equalizers, which at the end of the day, they all have their ups and downs.
Still, I think Beats is overrated.
So, decided to try and install this on my little cheapo China Tablet….
EEERRRRR!!!! *sound of a gameshow buzzer*
Totally a bad idea. borked the OS and had to do a firmware restore. Have you ever done a Firmware restore on a Shenzhen knock-off tablet!?. Count yourself lucky!
What version of CyanogenMod were you running so that others know it doesn’t work on that tablet?
It’s not CM10 or anything, it’s just ICS 4.0.3. But I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. Sure as hell didn’t think it was going to go into a meltdown, was assuming just a force close when I tried to use it.
no good with cm7?
I believe this is for CM10.. May work on ICS too. Cm7 as you know is still gingerbread and no I don’t believe it’s compatible
Sry, correction.. As stated in article above – cm9 and up:-(
nope, that’s why paragraph three says “CyanogenMod 9 and above” – no editing trickery here.
Awesome
Sweet…. MIUI Finally gets beats.
does it work in MIUI ?
Might have to look into this.
works great with aokp on my ltevo
