In an interesting turn of events, ASUS has removed the latest OTA update for the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity (9.4.5.30) from its website. This means that some users who have been unable to download OTA updates directly onto their tablets have no way to upgrade to the latest firmware. This also implies that ASUS might have found a serious issue with this update that is causing the company to temporarily pull it.
Interestingly enough, unlike many past OTA updates from different manufacturers, there have not been any widespread reports of abnormalities or bugs with this update. To the contrary, users have been reporting better benchmark scores, smoother web browsing, and less force closes. Overall, users have been happy with this update, including me – I can definitely vouch for the fact that 9.4.5.30 seemed to be a decent step up for the tablet.
Hopefully, we’ll know more soon as to why ASUS pulled the update. But in the meantime, if you were able to get it on your Infinity, let us know if you’re experiencing any major issues.

maybe so they can finally put a change log on it…unlike most of the rest of them!
Would be nice if they did it every time…
You know, companies that communicate openly with customers often find that increases customer loyalty. Doing otherwise, such as that reported in this article, without explanation tends to create confusion and distrust.
i don’t think issues like these are drastic. what matters is that they quickly fix the problem and release to the public again. most users are not bothered with the technical details of a problem. they just want the solution to it as quickly as possible
I think it does matter. People like to know what is going on with their devices. I for example, never update the apps on my phone without first reading the “whats new” section. Apps that dont say/include this information, make me feel very wary and will most likely end up uninstalling it in the end.
I enjoy companies telling me what they are doing to MY device. It is not their property anymore, so they should atleast bother to let their clients know what is going on. As simple as it is, it helps.
For those of us that downloaded the file and installed it before it was pulled, we have no idea why. Even though I personally am not experiencing any ill effects from the install (actually, it’s much better than the .26 version), I would like to know the reason for removing it in the first place. If one is rooted and not getting the OTA’s directly, we cannot receive the “fixed” version ( assuming that was the reason for the removal). ASUS should explain the reason for the pull, after all my Transformer wasn’t given to me as a present from ASUS, I dished out a pretty good penny for this product. Just my 2 cents…….
It’s back now…still no changelog though
Hi, very frustrating here in England; the Infinity has still not launched here!!!
Has anyone got a 3G/4G version yet? I cant see the point in a wifi only version, for the UK anyway, with hotspots so rare.
Nick
There’s lots of hotspots here in the US but they usually come at a price. McDonald’s and Starbucks have free wifi but I’m on a diet and I hate coffee.
I’m on Verizon and with their recent settlement with the FCC I am able to use my tiered data plan with my Asus Infinity via an app (Foxfi). So I am my own hotspot.
I am not sure if this is related to this new uptade, but after i upgraded the software, my micro sd card is no longer accessible. Infinity sees the card in the slot and everything seems to be ok, but when i try to access a video (or any other file for that matter) it says that there is a problem and the video cannot be played. To make anything work i have to remove the sd card while the screen is turned on an put i back. Everything gets back to normal but only untill the screen is on. After i turn the screen off, then turn it on the problem occures again. And so to gain access to anything on the sd card i have to remove it every time! Has anyone experienced enything like that?
The card itself seems to be ok – i have it as long as the infinity (6 months now) and never anything like this hapened.
(sorry for my english)
