If you have the HTC EVO 3D, and you’ve been waiting patiently for CyanogenMod 10, you’ve probably noticed that it’s appeared in development, been yanked from development, appeared again, and been yanked again. But now, there’s good news from the AnthraX-Kernels.us site: it’s here.
You will need an EVO 3D with an older HBOOT to avoid bootloops. For many, this means it’s time to finally take the plunge and S-OFF your phone using a live CD. I’m one of the many, unfortunately.
The base is a direct sync from TeamJB with an AnthraX kernel thrown in. Currently listed as working are the camera, WiMAX/4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, audio, calls, and 3G. Stereoscopic 3D and 3D camera are not listed as working; however, that’s a bit of a smaller mountain to climb now that there’s a solid base in place.
As with all things containing the AnthraX line of kernels, for strict compliance with GPL requirements, you’ll need to have an account on AnthraX-kernels.us in order to download.
Happy flashing, and let us know how it goes!

Can’t wait to hear how it goes. I’ve been waiting for this for months and am very excited to learn about your experience – but I’m not going first!
I may record the S-OFF from start to finish, I’m not thinking there’s much to worry about on the CMX
I would definitely watch that and would assume a lot of other people would too. Of course, it could be a couple hours long…
if all goes well, shouldn’t be more than 40 minutes and I can FF through the waiting for anything parts…
perks of working in the film industry: access to video editing bays.
downside of being IT in the film industry: not that good at any video editing.
I used closeone’s method. It was much less daunting (I have no Linux experience). I got it on my first try – for me, it was incredibly easy to achieve s-off
Using Unknown method was not too hard and I did it before the live CD. I also did it as my very first thing root related. hardest part of the process was bricking the phone and a couple terminalogy mistakes I made so my process took longer. Just read the entire OP and make sure you understand everything. I no longer have my 3d to do it again. but good luck
its more than just a kernel – the rom itself is linaro -o3 optimized
After Chad and Agraben kind of settled their differences and Disarmed Toast was fixed to work with Anthrax kernels properly, I finally flashed it and was surprised. I had some hiccups though, like when the phone from a low battery it would NOT reboot once I replaced the battery with a full one. I had to reflash the rom again. But, overall performance was good and slightly above Sense.
Then CMX was released. And it was like a unicorn mated with a Ninja. It’s beautiful and stealthy fast…like a uni-ninja.
uploaded a GSM test version of this rom
Well i guess im not going to try this. I tried to sign up on the anthrax site but instead got permanently banned.
reading the rules you agreed to, as well as the yellow banner on top of the screen will show why you appear to be perma-banned – it has to do with you not clicking the link that was emailed to you.
Thanks for the reply. I thought that might be it but i never got the email. Anyway, after looking into the downgrading process further (im on hboot 1.58) and never having done any of this before, i think id be in a bit over my head. Mainly just wanted to do more research.
Same problem here. Haven’t received an email yet. Is it slow on the weekends? lol. Just wondering.
Would love to root my EVO 3d but I have no experience with flashing and custom rims every tho I read every article that posts
The road to Diff on the 3d was excrutiating. But it was worth it. Like everybody says bricking your phone is the hardest. I spent 5 days in that step of the process. But at the end it was worth. I started to learn a little bit about rooting, flashing, rims kernels. Now I’m a flasholic lol. Do it guys but if you are weak u will definately fail.
im so jelly.. i wish we had all this good stuff for the evo LTE..
I have been waiting for CM10 to come to the EVO 3D for a long time. I started looking into it and found that I needed to be on hboot 1.4 but I am on 1.58 s-on so I did the “wire trick” to get s-off but now the AnthraX-Kernels.us site will not send me the email to register for their site so I can’t download the ROM. I am pissed.
my site has zero emails in queue – some ISPs are blocking emails from my domain, yahoo and hotmail are known for this… so people having issues may wanna try a different email
emails are also sent every 15 min
I’m waiting for my Anthrax account to be re-activated. It seems they disable any accounts after 30 days of inactivity.
Can anyone tell me what version of H-Boot is required? Post just says “older version”. I’m on 1.5 having used JuopunutBear wire-trick.
Any hboot of 1.50 or less is good.
I can’t get registered. It doesn’t send me the e-mail
I got in! Just took overnight to get approved
What do you put in ANTI-SPAM / ANTI-BOT?
I have a evo 3d with hboot 1.3. Can someone advise what I need to do in order to get AnthraX’ed CM10 working? Thanks!
i made an account on the anthrax forum and got the email, got activated and it still wont let me do anything after 2 days.. help?
