Facebook Home has been released for a few new HTC devices, and John’s covered some ways to get it up and working, but now Butterz Sense ROM for the HTC EVO 3D has come along with Facebook Home integrated directly into the ROM.
The ROM is rooted, deodexed, and debloated. It includes HTC Linkify, and it claims to have everything working; in my limited testing, it appeared that everything was functioning as normal.
The ROM itself is speedy, solid, and seems as zippy as any other ICS ROM with the bloat removed. I’ve run this for a couple of days and had no problems related to the ROM. Perhaps most interestingly, it includes Facebook Home, which takes over nearly the entire experience.
The ROM works on any hboot according to the developer thread, and pretty much everything I’ve thrown at it works. Mainly, I’m showcasing the Facebook Home integration in the video for those who have not had a chance to play with it.
If you’re wanting to test out Facebook Home without too much hassle or modifying your ROM or system files, it’s a great ROM to look at.
Facebook Home can be disabled, or never enabled, returning to a stock feel if you decide that having a social-media-centric launcher is not for you.
Most of the people I’ve shown this tend to believe that it’s pretty interesting, but not for them – I’ll stress that’s Facebook Home, not the ROM itself. It’s possibly the perfect ROM to slap on a 3D if you’ve just got it laying about and doing nothing of much use. It does really get those Facebook Home updates in your face.
For a couple of minutes of poking around Facebook Home and the ROM, sit back and watch the following video. It’s nothing spectacular, but if you’re wondering whether Facebook’s new offering is right for you, you might make up your mind.
