Google may have just outed the next Nexus phone by LG

Google just announced that the next version of Android – KitKat – would be coming soon, and it even posted a video earlier today on YouTube showing the KitKat statue being installed on the lawn of Building 44. What’s even more interesting than the official name of Android 4.4, though, is what is revealed at the 0:38 mark.

As you can see above, a man is clearly holding up a phone with the Nexus label appearing horizontally across the back, similarly to the new ASUS Nexus 7. However, it’s obviously a lot smaller than the Nexus 7, which leads us to the logical conclusion that it’s the as-yet unannounced and unreleased new Nexus.

To make matters even more interesting, Google pulled the video in question – which lends even more credence to this theory. From what we can tell, the device seems to have smooth back and a large offset camera lens. The logo at the bottom isn’t discernable, but seems to have the same proportions of the LG Nexus 4 that the woman is holding next to the man. For this reason, I agree with the interpretation that this is a new LG Nexus phone. It’s hard to tell if this is the same size as the Nexus 4, or slightly bigger – in other words, it’s still too early to call whether this is a “new” Nexus 4 or a Nexus 5.

Who’s excited for the new Nexus?
