ASUS will release its first Chromebook in Q1 2014
In a recent conference call to investors, ASUS officially announced that two new Chromebooks will ship worldwide by the end of Q1 2014. ASUS will release two models: one with an 11.6-inch screen for $199, and a 13.3-inch screen for $249. These devices will be targeted to teachers and students, so it’s not currently known how much outside marketing will go into these new products.
As OMG! Chrome! reports, these two new ASUS Chromebooks could be the mysterious Tegra 4 and Baytrail devices that were recently unearthed in Chromium code commits. As of now, though, nothing is confirmed, and no other specs or information are available.
There is also no word yet on the ASUS Chromebox that was discussed earlier this year. However, any new Chrome OS device is welcome in a portfolio that continues to grow and become more popular with all different kinds of consumers.
