European HTC One gets updated to Android 4.4.2

SFR FranceWhile HTC EVO 4G LTE owners are still wondering when their next OTA update will arrive, the HTC One update to Android 4.4.2 has begun in Europe. France’s SFR customers are the first lucky recipients, although the update should come to other European carriers, along with unbranded handsets, in the very new future.

As for us in the US, HTC has previously stated that the HTC One in the US will be upgraded to Android 4.4 within three months of KitKat’s original announcement – that puts us at the end of January. However, HTC’s latest public information about the update still says that it is in the “integration” phase, which means that most carriers have probably not certified it. We also know that HTC doesn’t always have the best track record in working with US carriers to get updates out in a timely fashion.

In any case, you’re always welcome to frantically hit that update button in vein – just go to Settings > About Phone > System updates > Check now.
