The Nexus 5 isn’t dead, after all: It’s back up for sale on Google Play right now

Nexus 5 Play Store

The fate of the Google Nexus 5 by LG has always been slightly precarious since the Nexus 6 by Motorola was released. While Google kept the Play Store listing for the Nexus 5 active, it wasn’t available for sale – all colors and all color configurations were sold out.

This of course led many people to speculate about what Google’s plans for the device ultimately were. Was Google going to keep the Nexus 5 as an option for people wanting a slightly smaller device? Was Google going to refresh the Nexus 5 sometime in 2015? Is it really just sold out, and Google intends to keep on selling it as soon as more stock arrives?

As it turns out, the latter is correct – although the white and red versions are now nowhere to be found. Instead, Google is selling the 16GB and 32GB versions in black only.
