As I have read that some people have tried Windows 8 in different 'old' devices, I could not stand it and I've installed on my Fujitsu U820.
Everything works fine, It accepts all the drivers from Windows 7 without problems. The only thing I have not gotten it to work at the moment is the automatic rotation of the screen, but i have read that that feature is not enabled in Windows 8 preview. Here is a photo: ![]() |

Nice! Hows the performance vs Windows 7? Chippy from UMPCPortal had installed 8 on his U820 also but mentioned it suffered from the same slowness as 7. I read that Windows 8 was optimized to use less memory, so I had higher hope it would run better.

I have been using my u820 with windows 7 and I find it very usable. With windows 8, it is more or less the same but I don't like new metro interface so i have returned to win7. Other thing that I notice is that in windows 8 you have to press on the screen harder to be notice. |

win7pro used to run really well on my U820, but it runs like a dog since I I let it install service pack. I am thinking of wiping it and reinstalling from scratch it is so bad.
so please do keep us updated on win8 and how it works for you as I know with the right OS and drivers the U820 is a very capable machine. |

How did you get the touch panel working? I have had no luck on the U810. If I try to install the touch panel driver I get the error:
Windows cannot find 'setup.exe'. |

I stand corrected. The touch panel does work - if I click tap and wiggle enough I can get something to open. It gives me an error that my screen resolution is too small. Then the "Close" button cannot be clicked with finger or stylus no matter how much I wiggle. How did you get past the screen resolution issue? Aren't the 810 and 820 the same screen?
