Could someone who has this latest driver install have a look into the registry at SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows (NT)/CurrentVersion/OpenGLDrivers and tell me what is listed there? It looks like the official driver doesn't list any opengl dll there, so it uses software rendering. If the unofficial driver lists a dll there, it would be worth a try to place it int system32 and set the correct string into the registry. I would try that. Probably we can combine the strength of the two driver versions into one.

It is there. The DLL is apparently called iegdglga. I'll export the keys and grab the file and see if I can splice it with the official Windows 7 driver v2030.
EDIT - something has broken Regedit on my PC. Every time it opens a file dialog it quits. EDIT2 - those keys are still there even with the 2030 version. So I guess some other version left them there. Last edited by patters; 12-27-2011 at 03:14 PM. |

@patters
Could you send that dll to me or post it in the forum? If I understood it right, every application that uses OpenGL links to opengl.dll from Microsoft. This dll either software renders the graphics or, if available, uses a hardware and manufacturer specific dll (which name varies). The path to this dll is given by the forementioned registry path and opengl.dll will load this automatically instead of using the software rendering. If I am not mistaken, better OpenGL performance only depends on the specific dll and the path in the registry. |

With a clean installation of windows 7 plus the new diver those registry keys are not present !! There is OpenglDriver but inside is empty

Yes I think the reg keys I had were from an old IEGD driver. Removing them made no difference.

Hello,
If you try using Google Earth in street view mode the images are not shown correctly there is a grey part. This problem happen in both mode in DirectX and OpenGL. In OpenGL is even worse. See the images below: DirectX ![]() OpenGL ![]() This Problem happens with the original driver and the new driver (2208) as well. Somebody has the solution for this problem? I am waiting a replay Bye |

If you have the on battery lcd brightness set to lower than 3 dots/bars, then when you are on battery power the LCD will turn off, since under 3 bar/dots = screen off. |

This driver isn't open source. There is no option to configure brightness control in the driver build tool. Unfortunately, there is no way to corrected this problem.

Not sure if this is 'news' but Intel are intending everyone to use EMGD going forward. They won't update the Windows 7 driver.
http://download.intel.com/design/int...ers/325830.pdf I hope they make a Windows 8 version, the performance on Consumer Preview with GMA 500 was too slow for me. And I'm not talking about Metro UI performance, I'm mainly interested in DXVA. I couldn't get full framerate playing HD films in Windows 8. There's also an EMGD version 1.14 out now. I can't remember how I built the 1.10 for Vaio P so I'll have to do some experimenting to create an update when I have time. |

I've built the 1.14 driver, it works great with Windows 8. The last 'official' Windows 7 driver is extremely slow in the latest Win 8 build.
I'll upload it when I get the chance! |

That would be great, give me a reason to try Windows 8 out on the P. Thanks in advance!

The driver build I'm currently using is this:
http://www.mediafire.com/?r9ff1dx5qezocnw Pretty much everything works, there's no flickering, suspend/resume works and installing Sony Shared Libraries via Win 7 compatibility trick makes the Fn keys and OSD work (brightness, volume control, etc.) |

Hehe, I finally got around to building 1.14, and I see you posted today as well
![]() I have updated the first post with my build and updated the thread title. Which display backlight timings did you use? Do you know how we could get the official ones for the Vaio P's panel? (see my screenshot in 1st post) EDIT - Hmm. Apparently it's a Toshiba LT080EE04000 according to this. I can't seem to find a datasheet though... http://www.panelook.com/LT080EE04000...ter_12331.html I guess it could also be that the EMGD is designed to be used with its companion video BIOS, though we are using the stock Sony VAIO BIOS that was intended for the GMA driver.
