Would love to upgrade my hard drive. I did research and this is what I have found:
Given that I do not want to compromise on battery power. More important as these batteries age! In order to achieve that it seems I should use a Sandisk pssd-p2 64gb. For other storage there's a Sandisk 64GB mobile ultra inserted into the microSD slot and thankfully the N5 is compatible with microSDXC. I do want to install more programs on non-removable storage and solution of nuking the recovery partition is undesirable. If I locate a bigger drive would like to make a recovery partition on it, if possible. Searching for the sandisk pssd-p2 64gb was not lucrative and came up empty for purchasing options. If it is available, anyone have a link? Failing that, is there a reasonable alternative which would carry a reasonable performance and without a big power consumption hit? Thanks! |

If you don't have a 3g modem, I actually fit a super talent 1.3" ssd in the N5. I just used electrical tape to secure it and its running fine.

The FEM64GF13M has a 40-pin connector, but the Viliv N5 has a 35-pin cable (unless I miscounted the pins). Do you use an adaptor or did you just align the cable properly? I suspect that 40-pin ZIF and 35-pin ZIF don't have the same pitch (0.5 mm vs. 0.3 mm).

I looked again: the Viliv N5 PATA ribbon cable has 40 wires with (approximately) 0.5 mm pitch.
Note that there's also a 128 GB version of that SSD, FEM28GF13M. Last edited by mmm; 12-26-2012 at 06:13 AM. |
