Default Vaio P won't boot from USB key

Is it because of the BIOS, but I can't find any way to make it boot from USB key? The same USB key is bootable under my Vaio TZ series laptop and works fine, but under P it just gets stuck with the BIOS screen (where the big VAIO logo is) and nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Have you modified the options in the Vaio P Bios first ?

Yes, I have set the "external device" first.

Got the issue with my external dvd drive but then I've started the installation of W7 from Vista and after the reboot, the drive was detected and even after installing W7..

I don't know what you are trying to boot on but if it is W7, you might try this.

That's the way it is, weird is that when I'm in BIOS and insert the USB key, BIOS freezes and computer needs to be shut down from the button.

I ran into this with a specific USB drive that had the U3 software on it. Even a removal of U3 with the software provided by Sandisk didn't fix that. Could that be the problem?

I'm using kingston datatraveler 120 8gb. I've formatted it so it can't contain any data. Another vaio laptop boots up fine from it though.

My Sony Vaio won't finish boot any USB drive on any OS.
Bios setting OK, but halfway booting, it truned to blue screen. I installed Windows by Ghost img or installed normally on a SATA drive then move it to a USB port. I have tried Vista, XP, and Win 7, all the same. Also windows installation CD or DVD sees USB drives but refuses to intall on any USB drives.
Any one? How to fix this problem?
