How to turn off “Smart Sync” on your HTC Sense 4.0 device

smartsync screenshot - for some reason we don't have an alt tag hereHave you ever noticed that your HTC Sense 4.0 device goes into a deep sleep between midnight and 7:00 a.m.? In other words, after 15 minutes of inactivity, your HTC EVO 4G LTE or HTC One series device (the One X, One S, or One V) will deactivate all data connections and turn off auto-sync in an effort to save as much battery as it can.

Some people (like me) might not really care – I’m usually sleeping at that time anyway, and I don’t like being woken up by new email notifications that can definitely wait until the morning. On the other hand, not everyone sleeps at the same time I do, so the lack of an easy toggle switch can definitely be frustrating. In other words, Smart Sync might not be so smart for everyone, after all.

Luckily, developer j4n87 has come up with an easy solution with a free app that doesn’t even require root access. Just download the app at the source link below, and use it to toggle Smart Sync on and off.

Your smartphone just got a little bit smarter.
