Twitter for Android updated to allow for push notification of friends’ tweets
Twitter was updated today to version 3.3 to add some features and polish to an already pretty decent and solid Twitter client.
Among the new features are:
- Ability to get push notifications when people you choose tweet, or re-tweet
- Tappable avatars to take you directly to a user’s profile
- In-line video and content and photo previews
- Improvements to search autocomplete
The push notifications are pretty great for being notified when people you actually care about what they have to tweet get flooded underneath 400 tweets about cats. This can be selected by going to their profile in the application, hitting the little arrow next to the “following,” and selecting turn on notifications. I’d been finding Twitter increasingly unusable the more people I followed, but this one thing can connect me back to the friends I want to see.
The whole app feels a little bit faster and a little more usable all in all.
Let us know what you think of it if you update/install. I’m currently a born-again fan.
