HTC One is now available on Verizon for $199.99

Verizon HTC One

If you’ve been wanting to make the jump to Verizon, but have been waiting until the HTC One was released on Big Red, the wait is over: HTC just announced that the HTC One is now available on the nation’s largest wireless carrier for $199.99 on contract.

In a press release sent to Pocketables, HTC says that the Verizon-branded HTC One will run Android 4.2.2 at launch – this is notable, since most devices in the US now are running Android 4.1.2, and HTC executive James Mackenzie stated that all US versions of the HTC One would jump straight to Android 4.3, instead of bothering with 4.2.

Another odd fact is that, according to HTC, “Verizon customers will be able to enjoy the addition of Instagram to the HTC BlinkFeed and select from new pre-loaded themes when creating 30-second Video Highlights.”

I’m not sure why HTC is choosing to let Verizon be the exclusive carrier to offer Instagram in HTC’s Blinkfeed, or why this device will be released with Android 4.2; it seems to me that this further fragments and divides HTC’s offerings, rather than unify them, as was the original intent with the One lineup.

In any case, you can pick up the Verizon HTC One at the link below.
