I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Disney+ subscribers suddenly cried out in terror
Disney Plus took off today, unfortunately the pilot was Launchpad McQuack and as such there were serious issues and we’re not even sure where it’s going at this point.
As with all startup streaming services, it choked. There are people ripping their hair out as we speak to get it back into gear, but as of 10:50AM CST it was having issues.
Having been on the other side of a large service launch that similarly experienced issues like this, it’ll probably take them a little bit to get things worked out, but there’s not a lot of ways to test what happens when 22,000 households with crappy internet speeds suddenly hit your server and start dropping requests mid-ACK.
It’s something I expect Disney will work out soon enough. Not something that’s easy to test for. Or perhaps they just designed it wrong. I’m betting though they’ve faced the beast and now know its name.
Couldn’t hurt to polish up your pitchforks however…
